Cantata Dramatica is a not-for-profit organisation (charity registration number 1158027). The charity was established in early 2012 with the objective of commissioning and promoting new music.

In the following 10 years, we commissioned more than a dozen pieces including operas, dramatic cantatas and other works, all of which have been performed at least once. We collaborate with a mix of composers and performers at many different levels and we aim to provide a rewarding creative experience for all.ballad opera

Our final commission was ‘The South Sea Bubble’, a modern ‘Ballad Opera’ by Nick Bicât, drawing on material from the Eighteenth Century Ballads of Thomas D’Urfey, Bernard Mandeville and others, which was performed at The Reform Club, London in August 2022.

Since then, our aim has been to maximise the use of our existing assets (musical scores, recordings, programme notes etc.) by making them available to others. We invite you to browse through the materials on our website and if any of our projects takes your fancy, please contact us for more information.
