The Perpetua story has attracted the attention of many authors besides Nick Pitts-Tucker, who was inspired to write a libretto after finding a translation of Perpetua's diary in a second-hand bookshop. The survival of the diary is so remarkable that many academics have been inspired to examine its authenticity and to find out more about this remarkable woman.
