Exultate Singers to perform Nick Bicât's 'Requiem' and Solfa Carlile's 'Between Sea and Sky'

Bristol based Exultate Singers, under conductor David Ogden, will be giving a concert on Sunday 18 November at St George’s, Bristol entitled ‘Glories of Byzantium'.

The renowned Exultate Singers under David Ogden has taken up the challenge of our new music under their “ Music for the Soul” series. The cornucopia that choral evening will feature Nick Bicât’ s spell binding ‘Requiem’, that interweaves the traditional Roman Mass with early Christian epigraphs. Only once before performed in England.

The programme also features the première of ‘Greek Love Songs’ by Toby Young, co-commissioned by Cantata Dramatica and Exultate Singers, and including that great poem “Ithaca” of Constantine Kavafy. And Solfa Carlile’s three Byzantine Poems, entitled “ Between Sea and Sky”. The thoroughly Greek theme will also include ‘Song for Athene’ by John Taverner.
